Little Rock Fashion Week Announces 2011 Winners (Updated with Photos)

(Press Release)

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.:  Little Rock Fashion Week is proud to announce that Laurella by Laurie B. Allen has been selected as the LRFW 2011 Clothing Line of the Year and model Larry Scruggs has been selected as LRFW 2011 Model of the Year.

Laurella, the fashion label owned by Pittsburgh native Laurie B. Allen, was chosen as the 2011 Clothing Line of the Year after her stunning presentation during LRFW's Posh Expression Fashion Experience, July 16.

"When I received the official word and saw the website, I was beaming from ear to ear because there was an extreme amount of talent from the designers this year. Everyone had the same goal that this was going to be bigger and better," said Allen.

Allen continued, "I loved everything about LRFW, the models worked everything so beautifully, and Brandon Campbell, the staff, and people of Arkansas are the best I've ever encountered. This honor is truly a pleasure!"

When asked, Allen said that her collection was inspired by all the printed fabric this year. In the past she had been known for muted tones and evening wear, but she saw LRFW 2011 as a time to challenge herself.

LRFW Creator Brandon D. Campbell, stated, "Laurie B. Allen's Laurella line speaks for itself. The collection is beautiful, well constructed, and is wearable for every woman. Attendees of LRFW 2011, fashion journalists, and members from the fashion community were very impressed with Laurie's unique usage of colors and the line's cohesiveness. Laurella stands out on any runway, which makes it memorable. I'm proud of Laurie and can't wait to see the new Laurella line on our runway in 2012."

Scruggs, a Pine Bluff, Ark. resident, was selected as the LRFW 2011 Model of the Year.

"My initial reaction was shock. There were so many other models that were great. I'm very happy and feel blessed to be chosen as the first male Little Rock Fashion Week Model of the Year. "I have Brandon to thank for pushing me too. It's a big accomplishment to me in my book; it shows that when you work hard and be yourself, good things are bound to happen," Scruggs recalled.

Scruggs spoke about his future plans, "I hope to represent Arkansas to the fullest of my abilities to let everyone know there is a lot of talent in Little Rock. I plan to become one of the top male models in the world, but for now, I'm just going to take it one day at a time with a smile."

Campbell was excited about this year's outcome. He stated, "Larry stood out among the most talented group of models to ever walk at Little Rock Fashion Week. Besides his obvious talent, Larry possesses a one-of-a-kind personality and positive spirit that makes him a joy to work with. Many would agree that being chosen as the Model of the Year could not have happened to a better person. I'm ecstatic to be working with Larry to help him reach the moon to success."

Scruggs was selected from the 89 models that walked the runway this year. Over 300 models auditioned this past May to earn a spot in LRFW 2011. Next up for Scruggs are multiple features in Dillard's fall ads and a modeling appearance at the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Fall Bridal Fair, on Sunday, August 14.

Allen and Scruggs were selected by a panel of judges that consisted of fashion journalists, store buyers, and executives from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and E! Entertainment. With these awards, they will receive a year of appearances, promotions including individual featured web-pages on www.littlerockfashionweek.com and photo shoots.

Little Rock Fashion Week welcomes all to save the date for Little Rock Fashion Week 2012-July 9-14. All interested designers, potential models, and community volunteers should visit littlerockfashionweek.com for more information on how to be involved with LRFW 2012.
